Kent P. Sheridan, M.D.
Meet Dr. Sheridan. As a collegiate athlete, he was attracted to the field of orthopaedics because he knew the pain and frustration injured athletes often face and wanted to help.
“With orthopaedics, you have a very tangible effect on an individual’s ability to work and play. Getting injured patients back to their lives is very gratifying for me,” he says.
Dr. Sheridan is fellowship trained in Sports Medicine with specific interests in:
- Arthroscopic Surgery
- Reconstructive Surgery including Anterior Hip Arthroplasty & Shoulder Arthroplasty
- General Orthopaedics including treatment of Complex Fractures
Dr. Sheridan’s higher education began at the University of California, Davis where he graduated with Honors in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. He was a scholar athlete for the UC Davis Aggies football program and was elected to several All-Academic teams. Following a year serving as a Postbaccalaureate Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Sheridan attended the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA where he received his Doctor of Medicine. He then returned to UC Davis to complete his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at one of the top orthopedic training programs in the country.
Dr. Sheridan completed additional specialty training in Sports Medicine as a Fellow at the renowned Southern California Orthopedic Institute where he learned advanced arthroscopic techniques of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. Additionally, he completed a Mini-Fellowship in Anterior Hip Arthroplasty and Complex Pelvic Fractures at the Hip & Pelvis Institute at St. John’s Health Center.
Dr. Sheridan has contributed significantly to orthopaedic research, authoring several peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and has also lectured at numerous professional conferences. Topics have included reconstruction of complex rotator cuff tears, anterior cruciate ligament surgery, and arthroscopic hip surgery. Dr. Sheridan has passed Part I of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is currently Board Eligible.
Dr. Sheridan decided to join the Center for Orthopaedic Specialists (COS) because of a strong culture of patient-centered care. At COS, patients will find Dr. Sheridan’s style as calm and focused. “I like to get to know my patients; listening to their goals and aspirations allows me to help them achieve their best possible function,” he says. “My goal is to create a caring and compassionate environment where patients can leave with a better understanding of their problem, along with the appropriate tools to make a decision regarding their best treatment option.”
Outside of his work, Dr. Sheridan still makes time for sports. In the winter, he heads to the mountains to snowboard, and during the warm months, he enjoys hiking, cycling and golfing locally. He is married to his medical school sweetheart—his wife is an oncologist—and they enjoy spending time together in and around the Los Angeles area.
